5 Things You Need To Know Before Moving to Dallas-Fort Worth

Everything is bigger in Texas—including the number of people who live here. According to macrotrends, “the current metro area population of Dallas-Fort Worth in 2023 is 6,574,000, a 1.33% increase from 2022.” In fact, every year for the past four years has seen that much population growth or greater in Dallas-Fort Worth. Things aren’t slowing down, either.

1. Size

Since DFW has quite a ways to go with its public transportation system, you’ll likely want to drive to most destinations (though there are trains and buses that can get you to major destinations). With frequent accidents and construction, it pays to at least check your route with your preferred map app before you head out. 4. Weather

Temperature swings of 50 degrees aren’t uncommon in Texas, as is snow on a random day in spring. The area is known for sudden thunderstorms that pop up, bringing with them the possibility of tornadoes. As a new Texan, you’ll likely want to check the weather as well before you start or plan your day.

5. Activities

Lastly, there’s a national stereotype that there isn’t much to do in Texas, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In DFW, we love our sports, music venues and outdoor activities.
